This weekend marked a milestone for Fixed Gear Street Racing. For the first time in L.A. History, City Officials allowed racers to go head-to-head under the world famous 2nd St. Tunnel in Downtown Los Angeles. It was an all out drag race and by the end of the night, only the strongest survived.
An estimated two-thousand people showed up to cheer on over 200 hard-core racers. They had to race fixed or single speed, any road bikes had their gears disabled (Thanks to Mr. DQ). The event was bigger than anyone anticipated, Red Bull showed up with a mobile DJ Fire Truck and a semi dropped off a huge set of bleachers at the finish line.
The women’s final bracket had some photo finishes, and a DQ in the men’s bracket ended the night early for a pre-race favorite. In the end the dog tags stayed in LA for both men and women with Tim McGee & Beatriz Rodriguez becoming the fastest F*ckin Riders in LA, congrats.
Thanks to everyone who came by the booth and showed us some love! Next up is Vegas. Get ready.
