Over the weekend TRAFIK attended “Movies About Bikes”, a short film festival brought to us by Funwunce. Rick Darge, the Director, Producer and coordinator of the event presented some great locally made short films like Monday Night Rehab, Los Angelopes, West Side Mosey, and the much anticipated Wolfpack Drag Race promo. It was a rainy night, but that didn’t stop the bike crowd from showing up and virtually selling out the beautiful Vista Theater in Echo Park.

This is an event Rick (seen in picture above^^) and his Funwunce team would love to do at least twice a year to encourage filmmakers and bike enthusiasts to create more short films. Rick said, “We’re already talking about making this kind of our own little L.A. bike film festival because there is the BFF and other things that happen, but Los Angeles really doesn’t have its own niche bike film scene and i think it’s there.”

The screening kind of reminded us of that scene from Gremlins where all the monsters are going crazy in the theater. Don’t feed Midnight Ridazz after Midnight. And whatever you do, don’t get them wet.

And just in case you missed it, here’s the trailer:

Trafik would like to thank all of you that made InterBike 2011 one for the books. This year, we were able to meet with a lot of the initial supporters of this project and we were able to show them our accolades and accomplishments, all thanks to our wonderful sponsors. We were able to tell them that our flick was the number one sports documentary on Itunes, (second documentary to Justin Beiber), the numerous premiers through out the globe and all the outstanding reviews that we’ve gotten on IMDB, Netflix and, Itunes. This year we were able to say a personal thank you to all the people that have supported us from the beginning. This post is for you guys!

Thomson, enough said. Thank you for all the support guys!

Knog keeps cyclist safe and reminds us to keep a smile on the face as well, by any means necessary.

Steve at the Chrome booth made us feel right at home.

Sock Guy reminding us that InterBike is not always about free stuff. Don’t be a shwag whore. Thanks for the pink armwarmers, west hollywood gets awfully cold this time of year. these purple and lavender arm warmes are the best!

If it wasn’t for GoPro, we wouldnt have been able to give you all the shots racers in action!

Velocity laced to anything is always a good idea!

Speaking of wheels, Aerospokes for extra streed cred.

Genuine Innovations kept us rolling around vegs! thanks y’all

Of course, the good people at Oury having an awesome time.

And thank you, White Lightening for us rolling all week. hell all summer!

In about an hour the biggest fixed gear Alleycat of Vegas is about to go down. The winners of this race are going to be really stoked on the prizes that our sponsors have been gracious enough to bless us with; Stems from Thomson, White Lightning lube, Knog Lights and Locks, Aerospoke swag, Kryptonite Locks and Accessories, Livery Design Gruppe Hats, Oury Grips, Skully Boom Boom Boxes, Polar Bottle bottles, gifts from Go Pro, Sock Guy socks, Endurance Conspiracy, Chrome, MonkeyLectric lights, Genuine Innovations co2 inflators and more from Trafik Pictures!

The victors of this race can bump their favorite The Carter IV track while they are cleaning their drive train. Or how about color match their lock with their frame using the Kryptonite Color Skins. Or how about upgrading their oem stem with a Thomson Elite stem. Even if you don’t win, its a great way to see the city of Vegas. I’m sure Hern’s got them going all over town. Stay tuned for the coverage.

Let’s roll Vagas.

What’s up world! Interbike is in full swing. This convention is where companies display their products and innovations and shop owners and distributors get to put a face to a name. That’s one of my favorite parts. So here for our first installment at Interbike 2011, we have the faces. Maybe you’ll recognize a couple. Enjoy!

Bike nerd it up!

Downtown LA messengers through the hardest race every year for the BFF and this one is no different. Starting at Griffith Park Observatory, the race is a grueling check point race that reference scenes in the movie, ‘Terminator.’ Last year Hern won this race (despite not having all the manifests.) This years grand prize is a 725 Leader frame set as well as a package from us here at Trafik Pictures! The race is caped at 54 racers so be there on time and be ready for some pain in this post hipster future!

This films get under way to day, and aside from the ones i recommended a few days ago, I’m really excited about this one, ‘Bill Cunningham New York.’ I saw this on track and i said to my self, this could be kyle a few years down the road. He would be the perfect person to archive the growing Los Angeles Cycling Culture and it’s fashion. He has been for years.

Yes, it’s that time again. The Bicycle Film Festival starts today in Los Angeles. It seems like it was yesterday that we packed The Downtown Independent Theater with 2 sold out shows for To Live & Ride In LA. Now here we are a year later and we are just as excited as last year. Los Angeles is making another impact on this years festival with Warren Komers’ Wolfpack Hustle’s The Crash Race as well as a vignette on the outlandish behavior of Los Angelopes. Holy Fuck its going to be a good one!!!

Tonight’s kick off party ‘Bikes Rock’ is at El Cid. Hope to see you all there buying us drinks!

TL&R was on the front page of Android Markertplace over Labor Day weekend. This is a great thing for us. We are reaching more and more people and it just goes to show how far we’ve come with technology. Just imagine this… you can literally watch To Live & Ride in LA while you’re riding in Bangkok, you can watch To Live & Ride in LA while your skidding down a hill in San Fransisco, you can watch To Live & Ride in LA while you’re skitching in Melbourne. All on your android phone. Now we do not condone that behavior. But it is possible. *please do not attempt*

I have to admit, this video makes me feel a little jealous. It gives insight on a city that uses bikes as it’s main form of transportation. If the past couple of years is a testement of the growth of cycling culture in LA, then this video gives me hope that it continues to grow. And maybe in the near future, these roads will be exponentially more cyclist friendly and our streets will be congested with cyclists as opposed to smog and automobiles. Viva la Bicicleta!
