FixieCross & FixieCrit went down in Los Angeles last Saturday and racers from all over made it out to LA Historic China Town Park to compete. It was a major CX event thrown by So-Cal Cross, they were nice enough to let the fixed gear riders on the course after the Pro’s. Fixed gear cyclocross may not be very well known, but it is hilarious. Most of the racers had never raced fixed gear on a course like this and everyone had their own guess of what was the best gear ratio. Some were doing nothing but spinning while others were stuck on a heavy gear that kept them from going up and over the bridge and maneuvering at slow speeds in dirt. Needless to say it was one of the spectators favorite events of the night and we hope to see more FixieCross events in the future.
The Crit was a short course around Chinatown that got off to a fast start and left many of the racers behind with no hope of catching up. Those in the front pack included riders from Track Hard, Mobin Mondays, Emortal and dog tag winner Willo from Unknown Bikes, but control was in the hands of the large GSS team who protected a breakaway and worked together to come in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. It’s that time of year again ARTCRANK LAX will feature hand-made, bike-inspire posters created by the best Street Artists LA has to offer. This year ARTCRANK invited our in-house designer LEEN to be a part of the event, creating a remarkable design inspired by his latest Sugimon Attack water bottle. These Limited Edition, signed and numbered copies of all posters will be available for $40 each. That’s a pretty fair price to lace up your pad with some original art from LA’s finest.
Come hang out with the TRAFIK crew and have a beer with us courtesy of Widmer Brothers Brewing. Take home some original bicycle-inspired poster artwork from local artists including SWANK ONE, CACHE, SEIZER and EYEONE.
SWANK ONE – A true graf OG, Swank has been repping Wolfpack for years and was the designer behind the sick cover art for the To Live & Ride in LA DVD. He is premiering a new piece at Artcrank that really jumps off the page at you. For realz 3D, it even comes with old skool glasses.
EYEONE – If you have ridden anywhere around LA, you’ve seen some of Eyeone’s mural collab’s with CACHE. His immediately recognizable characters have been part of this city for awhile. Now make it part of your apartment.
It’s going off TOMORROW, Saturday Nov. 9th at Space 15 Twenty, 1520 N. Cahuenga Blvd. in Hollywood. See you there!
This past Sunday Engine No. 11 hosted a crit race in the LBC as a benefit for Luis Avina who was recently injured. The race brought out some of the toughest riders in Los Angeles to put it down and help out the homie. It was great to see so many familiar faces and new ones come together to support a rider down. With State Champions and alley cat competitors alongside each other, this was by far one of the cleanest races in LA thus far.
Roadies went first. It was a good solid group leading the pack including some of our riders from GSS: Felipe Castillo and Anthony Zelaya, the 16 year-old beast. The sun was going down when the fixed gear group took the course with at least 35+ racers. It was for sure a fast paced race. In the first lap riders were already getting dropped by the front pack trying to make a breakaway. With just 3 laps in GSS team member NeuYork got a flat, but thanks to quick action by his teammates he was able to swap out wheels allowing him to continue the race and place a solid 3rd place.
Tony Z was racing smart and made his move on the final lap. Check out the video below for Tony’s Go Pro and peep the strategy. As he sprinted to the finish line, he just barely passed Alvin Escajeda from Mobbin Mondays/CNBC who finished 2nd place overall. Congrats Tony! Geat race. Great vibe. Great Sunday night with friends. Thanks to Wolfpack Hustle for organizing another great racing event for the community. Tons of people came out for an exciting night of head-to-head action. Check out the official results of the HP Drag Race below. It was a lot of fun to be at and there was a lot of good energy that is captured in the video shot by Rafael Hernandez. Thanks to everyone who made this night possible, it was a blast and we can’t wait for the next one!
Another weekend of racing in Southern Cali. This Saturday we headed down to Huntington Park for another great Wolfpack event, the HP Drag Race. It was great to have a city like HP behind an underground race like this. There was plenty of parking, precision timing, and the city provided lights, security, etc. Good looks HP!
TRAFIK was there to support our local racers and they did not disappoint. The qualifying races went by quick and the top 16 men and women were racing for the dogtags before it struck midnight. Check out Wolfpack’s page for the Official Results, but in the mean time check out some of the pics from the night… MOAR on our FLICKR PAGE TRAFIKPIX
