Here’s a quick recap/results of the King of Hollywood race:

1st: Hern (Right)
2nd: Andrew (Middle)
3rd: Pnut (Left)

The 5 checkpoint race – one of five – was started off with one of LA’s most recognizable hills – Cahuenga Pass to Universal City. This hill alone was enough to drop some of the racers! 20+ racers came out on Friday to give it their best, blazing through some of the most traffic-congested streets LA has to offer.

It was a free-for-all and in-depth knowledge of the city was required in order to complete the race.

George is in the midst of setting up several “King of (insert part of city here)” races, tallying up to a “King of LA” race which will have all previous winners go at it.

More pics from the race…..here!

UK is not only home to Stonehenge, dragons, and double-decker buses but has one of the biggest fixed gear scenes in Europe.

We were stoked when To Live & Ride in L.A. premiered in London and Preston earlier this year. Now that it’s on UK iTunes, we hope the entire Kingdom will watch it (we’re talking to you Scotland!)

If you’re interested in how they do fixed gear “over there”, check out London’s bike blog THE FOOTDOWN, Another one @ FIXED GEAR LONDON, the riders from NINJACATS, or NEWCASTLE FIXED to see whats bubbling up with the Old English.

Not to forget our friends over at Deaf Pigeon for hosting a screening as well as the dope fixie mag FIXED AND WHAT that published a nice spread on the movie. Click on some of these links to see what’s good. Give it up for Global Fixed Gear Culture.

West Covina is a long way to drive in L.A. traffic, but worth it to attend another ill event from Store 13 and Leader Bike that brought out all the homies from the IE. Bikes, cars, food trucks, girls, it was all there jammed in Store 13′s parking lot for TAB Tuesday.

Team Leader riders Michael Chacon and Jesus Lizama came thru to show off some of the new frames, Mike with his 2012 Hurricane and Jesus with his newly minted Kagero that had some heads turning. Mike is really getting out there, check out that swarm of riders getting autographs on their wheels, bikes, babies. Good looks Michael!

TRAFIK was stoked to see many of the riders rocking our decals, looks extremely clean on Leader’s 735 frame. Head over to TRAFIK’s Flickr (TRAFIKPIX), to see all the pics from the night. Also, if you get a chance to stop into Store 13 in West Covina OR Pasadena pick up a copy of To Live & Ride in L.A. or other TRAFIK gear. Thanks!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and so are the annual races to raise money for local food pantries. TRAFIK is happy to be a sponsor of the VCR RACE going down in L.A. tomorrow, we also reached out to help Arizona locals at State Bike with their Thanksgiving Throwdown, also happening on the 23rd.

As always, you know TRAFIK got ill with the prize bags…

You might win hardware from THOMSON, grips from OURY, hip bags and straps from FAMLI STRAPS, lube and bike maintenance EQ from WHITE LIGHTNING, lights from BOOKMAN, a flip-flop wheelset from PURE FIX, are we forgetting anything? Oh yeah…TRAFIK Apparel + To Live & Ride in L.A. DVD’s, spokecards, decals, the whole 9-yards.

But don’t just race for the prizes, your entrance fees will help feed needy families over the holidays. Come out and race, it’ll make you feel good!

-TRAFIK

Our friends at Urban Velo just released a new issue featuring a run-down on the races that happened during Interbike. A well-written article by Davey Davis, it’s a must-read for anyone looking to attend next year and take part in some of the “Urban” events that happen after the convention closes for the night. The two big races this year were the MASH race and the KING of VEGAS race hosted by local-hero HERN and sponsored by TRAFIK among others.

“Brad Adams, of Road Runner Bags took second in both races and credits the city’s insane urban emphasis on cars in creating a dicer race. “Vegas intersections are meant to hold a mass number cars and trying to break through that when there is bumper to bumper flow was unbelievable. I honestly could not tell you how I did it. It still boggles my mind.” In the end LA took the podium for men, with Edgar winning the race. There was much singing, dancing, dogtags, and In-N-Out burgers to be had.”

We are happy to officially announce that TRAFIK rider Jesus Lizama has been chosen to represent Team Kagero and Leader. You might have seen him rocking his new Kagero frame around town, all nice and shiny, just give it a few weeks and it’ll have that rich patina of smog, dirt, and L.A. grime.

Jesus has been involved with the L.A. bike scene for more than a minute. As one of the founders of the Korea Town Wednesday Ride (Kushtown for people who know) Jesus keeps it wheelie real. A racer, a bike activist, a top ranked Call of Duty player, Jesus is constantly working on making himself faster and raising the game of everyone around him. As part of Team Kagero, Jesus will be representing an international team of riders chosen from across the globe.

We are proud of you homie, represent L.A. well!

Thanks to Sal, Terrence, Patrick and all the folks at Leader and Pedal Consumption.

Our friend NASTY from Japan is finally coming out with his own signature frame. Nasty has been holding down the Tokyo FGFS scene for years now, glad they finally came around to hook him up proper. We met Nasty at Cyclemode, Tokyo a couple years back with the guys from W-Base. Super nice guy and a great rider. Check out his frame and video below.

Bike Sabotage in Portland!

WTF! Somebody up in Portland is looking for a true street beat down pulling stunts like this. A recent article from Bike Portland.org talks about a mysterious bike hater who is throwing down tack strips in bike lanes. He (or She if she’s a real bitch!) camouflaged the strips using tar paper and secures them to the pavement with sticky tar.

Good thing some observant cyclists saw what was up and took action. The rider, Jeremy Dunn, commented:

“We had our heads up and avoided it because it looked like refuse, but we came across another rider about a mile down the road who had mysteriously double flatted.”

One flat sucks, but double? Don’t let this happen to you. If you see anything like this in your city, make sure to let people know. Better yet, if you can get a picture of the perp, post it up so we can make an old school WANTED posted.

-Ride Safe-

Our friends from across the pond in the UK put out the slickly designed fixed gear mag Fixed, and Two with a featured article on the making of To Live & Ride in L.A.. They did a great job of laying out this article, incorporating behind the scenes photos with interviews. Nice job mates. Read it for yourself and learn all our secrets. Photos by SWANK ONE.

Hern during magic hour…

Fixed gear has been blowin’ up in Europe and we want to thank all our fans over there for the support. Check out the UK crew’s Facebook HERE. Read the rest of the article after the jump…  Read more..
