The weather had a temper on the way to Las Vegas. Pockets of rain and sun shine. Hopefully this canopy keeps Las Vegas cool the next couple days.

Watch out vegas! We out here.

Bike nerd it up!

This weekend was crazy hectic! The BFF weekend was kicked off by a party at El Cid on Thursday and Race that started at Griffith Park on Friday night before the first night of screenings. Ash of Downtown LA’s Finest took the reigns for this years race and the turn out was fantastic. Check out all the young bucks in lycra! Years ago, people would have poked fun of the amount of lycra that was being worn. Fast forward to the present, not only is it accepted, but the races are getting faster and faster. And so it goes…

Downtown LA messengers through the hardest race every year for the BFF and this one is no different. Starting at Griffith Park Observatory, the race is a grueling check point race that reference scenes in the movie, ‘Terminator.’ Last year Hern won this race (despite not having all the manifests.) This years grand prize is a 725 Leader frame set as well as a package from us here at Trafik Pictures! The race is caped at 54 racers so be there on time and be ready for some pain in this post hipster future!

This films get under way to day, and aside from the ones i recommended a few days ago, I’m really excited about this one, ‘Bill Cunningham New York.’ I saw this on track and i said to my self, this could be kyle a few years down the road. He would be the perfect person to archive the growing Los Angeles Cycling Culture and it’s fashion. He has been for years.

TL&R was on the front page of Android Markertplace over Labor Day weekend. This is a great thing for us. We are reaching more and more people and it just goes to show how far we’ve come with technology. Just imagine this… you can literally watch To Live & Ride in LA while you’re riding in Bangkok, you can watch To Live & Ride in LA while your skidding down a hill in San Fransisco, you can watch To Live & Ride in LA while you’re skitching in Melbourne. All on your android phone. Now we do not condone that behavior. But it is possible. *please do not attempt*

Coverage from The 5th Floor. Eurobike is underway and it looks like FGFS has a good presence. If this isn’t evidence that fixed gear has gone globale, i don’t know what is.

Nasty (2nd place), John (14 Bike Co), Rudy, Flavio (Tre3e), Marco (Winner) and Naoya (Brotures)

Ines Brunn is always a crowd pleaser.

The Sprint Race coverage from The 5th Floor is killer as well. The final photo is intense!

I have to admit, this video makes me feel a little jealous. It gives insight on a city that uses bikes as it’s main form of transportation. If the past couple of years is a testement of the growth of cycling culture in LA, then this video gives me hope that it continues to grow. And maybe in the near future, these roads will be exponentially more cyclist friendly and our streets will be congested with cyclists as opposed to smog and automobiles. Viva la Bicicleta!

If there is one thing i’m good at, its hangin’ out. What better reason to hang than Beers Bikes and Burgers. I accompanied my buddy to Riverside to hang out with the local color. Despite the 104 degree weather, Riverside’s bike community came out to embrace the summertime. Crooks acted as home base as cyclists participated in Sprint Races, Footdowns, as well as just a good ol’ fashioned cruise about town. When they got back they were blessed with free food from Manglers Meltdown. Riverside, thanks for letting me having us out there. I rate this hang time a 9 out of 10. Deduct one point because it was hot as heck.

From the beginning, Trafik Pictures have been a huge supporter of Downtown LA messengers. And it’s because they always make us feel welcome. They were kind enough to include us a sponsor for their upcoming alley cat, Terminator. You’ll see us there for sure. This race is Ace’s personal favorite. Maybe he’ll take it this year. (yeah, right).
